Mousey Tales
A downloadable game for Windows
A large burrow like no other built of stone and wood, they called it the Ark, a haven for all mouse-kind. Many a migrant travelled to the Ark in search of great prospects, others simply sought a place to call home.
Now almost forgotten, the Ark considered a cursed realm, one brave mouse, armed with needle and thread, ventures into the great depths in search of the truth; to learn what happened to the mice who ventured forth prior.
A simple Metroidvania style game heavily inspired by hollow Knight, originally made for the Metroidvania Month gamejam, now expanded.
New update containing a full region to the west complete with new enemies, bosses and items.
Saves from prior versions should theoretically work, there may be some odd inconsistences but nothing major.
Gamepad compatible.
Ps4 controllers: if the controller is not detected on booting the game, disconnecting and reconnecting the controller whilst the game is running should solve the problem.

Your game has such cute art, fren
Thanks for playing my game and sharing the footage. Its quite illuminating to see someone else play the game and what they do or don't figure out. For example you managed to get to 2 of the 'health shards' in unintended ways and honestly I think that's cool.
I'll keep you're feedback in mind as I adjust it for a 'super metroidvania month' release. You've also shown me a few places that will make for logical secret walls. And yes I've pruned out a lot of those darker brown pieces that you can move through, some will still remain for visuals but the game space should be a bit clearer going forwards when I rerelease.
Wonderful game! I did get a little confused about the use of the string. I did not figure out immediately that it could be aimed upwards, and so I ended up wandering in a loop, looking for other exits. The game is very polished; I appreciate the amount of effort that was put into the animations for all the characters.
Thanks for playing the game, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Better tutorialisation regarding directional inputs is definitely something I'd need to include should I further develop the game
this is very very fun. The movement feels good, level design is great, and I instantly felt hooked to the game!
please keep going with it! Tons of promise
heres a little feedback
- please add a map! Feels like I’m missing an arm not having a map in a Metroidvania lol
- allow animation cancelling with the slash attack. Ie, allow spamming attacks a little faster, it pauses a lot between hits with makes combat hard and feel a little bit frustrating. Would really improve the combat feel I think!
- make it more obvious which platforms are solid and cause collision vs ones you can pass through. That was the only pain point with exploration, it was hard to know what my options were in a given room
Thanks, I will keep my eyes peeled on this project!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game and thankyou for the feedback.
A map is certainly something I'd like to include, and I'll look into the other issues you pointed out to see what can be improved.
